Carbon Group's Ironman Secures 3 out of 3!

Jun 26, 2019

Carbon Group’s Declan O’Hanlon is celebrating an incredible sporting achievement this week after completing his third full ‘Ironman distance triathlon’.

The extraordinary accomplishment means that Declan has now fulfilled his ambitious goal of attaining three Ironman distance triathlons within three years.

The Carbon Group team gathered together last week to wish Senior Quality Analyst Declan O’Hanlon the very best of luck ahead of his final ‘three in three years’ Ironman distance triathlon.

For anyone unfamiliar with the gruelling Ironman requirements, it’s worth noting that Ironman triathlon participants must complete a tough sequential endurance feat that involves a swim, cycle and run. The stamina-demanding triathlon distances are as follows: 3.8km (swim), 180.2km (cycle) and 42.2km (run).

The three Ironman triathlons in three years feat was completed between 2017 and 2019 and had an international dimension – in order to complete his aim, Declan travelled to Spain (2017) and Italy (2018), before completing the third triathlon on Irish home soil in Youghal, Co. Cork last weekend.
