WHO Recommendation: Reduce the Use of Antibiotics in Food Production

NEWS FOCUS: There’s been a call for farmers and those involved in the production of food to actively reduce the use of antibiotics as part of a wider strategy to tackle antimicrobial resistance.

The appeal for greater caution in relation to antibiotic usage comes from the WHO (World Health Organization).

The overuse and misuse of antibiotics in animals and humans can contribute to the threat of antibiotic resistance.
